Andrew Kerin, Chief Executive Officer
Andrew Kerin is Chief Executive Officer of Brickman, the largest commercial landscape, maintenance and snow removal company in the United States. The company has more than 10,000 dedicated employees that create and enhance landscape environments for thousands of corporate offices, commercial properties, hotels, healthcare facilities, retail centers, residential communities and educational institutions across the country.
Prior to joining Brickman, Kerin served as group president, ARAMARK Global Food, Hospitality and Facility Services, a $12 billion business, where he led a team of more than 200,000 associates in over 20 countries delivering food and facility services to multiple industries including: education, business, healthcare and sports and entertainment. Over the course of his 16-year tenure at ARAMARK, Kerin held numerous leadership positions.
Prior to joining ARAMARK, Kerin served as a vice president with Ogden Corporation, a leading provider in facility services.
He serves on the Board of Directors of Arrow Electronics, a global provider of products, services and solutions for enterprise computing solutions. He also serves on the Board of Trustees for Fordham University.
He earned a BA degree from Fordham University and is a graduate of the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program.
Mark Hjelle, President
As President of Brickman, Mark Hjelle is responsible for all Brickman operations and leadership teams across the enterprise. Hjelle is passionate about inspiring, keeping safe and growing opportunities for the company’s more than 10,000 team members. In addition, he is committed to advancing Brickman’s excellent industry reputation and brand by delivering exceptional service and quality to clients and developing long-term relationships.
Hjelle joined Brickman in 1998 as Vice President and General Counsel. He was named Executive Vice President in 2003, and assumed the position of President in 2007. Prior to joining the company, Hjelle worked as a business lawyer at the Philadelphia law firms of Dechert Price and Rhoads LLP and Duane Morris & Heckscher LLP.
He holds a BS degree in Economics from the Wharton School of Business and a MS degree in Government from the University of Pennsylvania. Hjelle also holds a JD degree from the Case Western Reserve School of Law.
Jeffrey Herold, Chief Operating Officer
As Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer of Brickman, Jeff Herold is responsible for Operational Excellence through enterprise-wide initiatives related to our core Landscape Maintenance and Snow Services, as well as Purchasing and Supply Chain.
Jeff joined Brickman in 1980 and has served in a variety of roles in Operations, including leadership of the Company’s Northeast Design/Build Operations through the 1980’s. In 1998, Jeff assumed the role of Vice President, responsible for leadership of Brickman’s Central, Midwest, New Jersey and New England Regions. In 2000, he was named Chief Operations Officer.
In his tenure at Brickman, Jeff has helped to develop the Company's branch model, which is the cornerstone of Brickman’s ability to grow, while maintaining a standard of quality and customer service that is responsible for client retention rates regularly exceeding 90%. He has also led Brickman’s Quality Improvement, Production Planning, and Process Improvement Initiatives.
Jeff holds a BS degree in Ornamental Horticulture and Landscape Contracting from the State University of New York at Alfred.
Eric Robinson, Chief Human Resources Officer
Eric Robinson is Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer of Brickman. Eric provides the executive focus, strategy development and leadership to support the company’s continued investment in Brickman’s team members and its culture.
Robinson has over 20 years of Human Resources leadership experience. Eric spent nearly 10 years as the Vice President of Human Resources for Pulte Homes. He served as a key business partner for a $6 Billion business where he led the Human Resources strategy development for key areas such as talent management, training and leadership development.
Eric also spent time at three other Fortune 500 companies during his career. His time at Clorox, BF Goodrich and Cooper Industries helped to shape his perspective on Human Resources and how it enables business performance.
Robinson holds a BBA in Human Resources Management from Ohio University, furthered his education at the University of Michigan and is a certified Six Sigma Blackbelt.
Gena Ashe, Chief Legal Officer
As Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of Brickman, Gena Ashe serves as the Company’s Chief Legal Officer. In that role, she is the strategic legal advisor to the enterprise and is responsible for leading all aspects of the Company’s Legal, Risk Management, Safety, Compliance, and Corporate Governance functions.
Gena has more than 20 years of broad based legal experience across a variety of industries. Prior to joining Brickman, she held senior and executive-level legal roles with responsibility for providing the full range of legal advice and counsel, with AT&T, Lucent Technologies, Darden Restaurants and the Public Broadcasting Service (“PBS”), where she served as Deputy General Counsel. Immediately prior to joining Brickman, Gena was the Senior Vice President of Legal Affairs for Catalina Marketing, a privately held performance-based, digital marketing and advertising enterprise. Early in her career, Gena served as a Microcomputer based design Electrical Engineer and Scientist for IBM Corporation before transitioning to IBM’s Legal Department after law school.
Gena holds a BA degree in Mathematics from Spelman College, a MS degree in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology, and a JD degree from Georgetown University. She also earned a certificate in International Management from Oxford University in Oxford, England.
Tony Skarupa, Chief Financial Officer
As Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Brickman, Tony Skarupa leads the Accounting and Finance team. He ensures that the business goals of the company are clearly articulated to this vital business support group, and that the group works in concert towards achieving those goals, providing the highest level of quality and service to enhance the operations of the Company.
Prior to Brickman, Tony was Vice President, Finance of CapitalSource, a specialty finance firm, with leadership of all corporate finance activities for this publically traded firm. Prior to CapitalSource, Tony was Finance Director with the Advisory Board Company and was responsible for all finance and accounting activities.
Tony began his career in the audit group of KPMG’s Boston office and is a graduate of Boston College.
Jennifer Mintman, Executive Vice President, GM
Jennifer Mintman is Executive Vice President & General Manager of Brickman Facility Solutions and Chief Strategy Officer of Brickman. In her role, she is responsible for the BFS business where she leads and complements a very strong core leadership team. In addition, she leads the enterprise wide strategic development focuses on accelerating business performance.
Jennifer brings more than a decade of executive leadership in services, product management and Six Sigma quality to Brickman. Jennifer most recently held the role of General Manager of GE Appliances’ Consumer Home Services business, a $400 million annual revenue service and aftermarket parts business. In this position, she had direct responsibility for its 2,000 service team employees as well as their service partner network and profit and loss responsibilities for service and parts within GE Appliances.
Over her career, GE recognized her accomplishments with multiple awards, including the GE Chairman's Hero of Growth Award, two Appliance Overall Performance Awards, the New Product Innovation Award and the Business Turnaround Award. Jennifer also oversaw the launch of several new products resulting in three technology patents and top ratings and national recognition from Consumer Reports, Good Housekeeping and Popular Science.
A native of Pittsburgh, PA, Mintman is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon where she received a B.S. in chemical and biomedical engineering.
Rick Martella, Executive Vice President of Public Affairs & Communications
As Executive Vice President of Public Affairs & Communications, Rick leads the development and execution of engagement & communications strategies across key stakeholder groups both internally and externally.
Rick has over 20 years of experience within the services industry and broad expertise in stakeholder engagement and social & environmental impact. Rick has been actively involved on the Board of Directors for the newly formed United States Chamber of Commerce Foundation. He also serves as Chairman Elect for the Washington DC based, Public Affairs Council.
Rick enjoyed a 20 year career with Aramark Corporation ultimately serving as Vice President of Corporate Affairs. In this capacity Rick developed and lead functions related to Community Involvement, Government Relations, Corporate Responsibility and Reputation Communications among others. Prior to this role he served in a number of operational and development roles of increasing responsibility during the launch of Aramark’s facility services segment.
Rick holds a BA degree in Psychology from Rutgers University and has completed advanced studies at the University of Chicago and Boston College.
Joe Tinney, Executive Vice President of Sales
Joe serves as Executive Vice President of Sales, with leadership responsibility for all new sales functions, as well as national and strategic account management. Joe has 30 years of experience in the service industry. Prior to joining Brickman, he served as President of Aramark Facility Services – Business & Industry Group. Before Aramark, he served as Vice President & General Manager at UNICCO Service Company. He launched his career with Ogden Corporation, spending the bulk of his tenure in business development roles of increasing responsibility.
